Why does Minecraft "crash" when I switch versions? How do I create a separate folder for new profiles in the Launcher? If you are getting problems when switching between versions, it usually means that a shared config file is not compatible between versions. To get around that, create each version with a private profile in the Launcher.
On the launcher landing page, find your saved installation in the list and click it to change to that version of the game. I get to step 2 and although older versions of Minecraft are listed, I cannot select them and it defaults to 1.18. To be clear, 1.18 appears to work just fine, it is the older versions of Minecraft I need.
As the title says, my minecraft settings keep getting reset whenever i switch between 1.8 and 1.19 and it's very annoying to set my keybinds every time i switch versions. Is there any way to stop this from happening or a method to restore my settings easily?
I've reinstalled minecraft twice and restarted my computer so I'm not sure what else I can do, I need to play on an earlier version to play almost any servers. In the stock launcher, you ought to make a new profile and point the game directory to a unique folder on your computer. Just have it launch the version of forge for the pack, and put the mods/configs in said unique folder.. I got a survival world, and a world of creating a naval fleet. don't want to lose that hard work if switching to another version would effect the games saved. So what would happen if I were to switch back to versions like 1.5 or when I started at 1.2.5.
