For the first time ever, we are opening our locomotive shop for a behind-the-scenes look during Santa's Candy Cane Express event the first two weekends of December. You won't have to stand in line to see Santa - just head into the shop, take your number then talk to our volunteers to learn about our current projects and discover what it takes to maintain our historic railway equipment. Here’s a behind the scenes look at a turtle shell repair. We do not begin this process on intake. We have a series of steps prior to shell repair as it is done in phases. We must be mindful of flystrike and maggot activity prior to sealing the shell.
